YegnaFund Content Moderation and User-Generated Content Policy

By uploading, posting, or submitting any images, videos, or other visual content to YegnaFund.com, you agree to abide by this Content Moderation Policy. This policy may be updated at any time, and continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of any modifications. Violation of these terms may result in content removal, account suspension, or legal action.

YegnaFund strictly prohibits the following types of visual content:

Violent and Graphic Content

  • Extreme violence or gore intended to shock or disturb viewers
  • Animal cruelty or abuse
  • Child endangerment or distressing situations involving minors

Exception: Medically necessary documentation may be permitted if the content is essential to demonstrate medical need, sensitive areas are blurred, clear medical context is included, a content warning is displayed, and verification from a medical professional is provided.

Sexually Explicit Content

  • Nudity or partial nudity without permitted context
  • Sexual acts, suggestive poses, or pornographic content
  • Content sexualizing minors in any form

Hateful or Discriminatory Content

  • Hate symbols, slurs, or derogatory depictions of protected groups
  • Content promoting supremacist ideologies or terrorist organizations
  • Memes or graphics intended to dehumanize or mock protected groups

Fraudulent or Deceptive Content

  • Fake medical documents or falsified injury images
  • Stock photos misrepresented as personal circumstances
  • Manipulated images without disclosure
  • Misleading before-and-after images

Illegal Content

  • Content depicting illegal activities
  • Stolen or copyrighted material used without authorization
  • Content violating export control or sanctions laws

Other Prohibited Content

  • Self-harm or suicide-related imagery
  • Spam, malware, or phishing attempts embedded in images
  • Content promoting dangerous challenges or activities
  • Excessive or gratuitous profanity in overlays or captions

We recognize that users seeking medical or emergency assistance may need to share sensitive images. The following guidelines apply:

Acceptable Medical Documentation

  • X-rays, MRI scans, and other diagnostic imaging
  • Photographs of injuries or conditions taken in medical settings with appropriate coverage
  • Post-operative images showing recovery progress with sensitive areas concealed
  • Medical bills, prescriptions, or doctor's notes with identifying information redacted

Required Safeguards

  • Graphic medical content must include a content warning overlay before viewing
  • Graphic areas must be blurred, including severe trauma and open wounds
  • Images must include written context explaining medical necessity
  • Medical verification must be provided within 48 hours of submission

Automatic Review Triggers

  • Visible blood exceeding minor cuts or scrapes
  • Exposed bone, muscle, or internal organs
  • Severe burns or skin conditions
  • Post-mortem images without explicit admin approval for memorial campaigns

By uploading content, you represent and warrant that:

Ownership and Rights

  • You own the content or have explicit permission from the copyright holder
  • You have obtained consent from identifiable individuals depicted or their legal guardians
  • For medical images, you have patient authorization or are the patient

Accuracy and Authenticity

  • Images accurately represent your stated situation
  • You will not use stock photos or manipulated content without disclosure
  • Medical documentation is genuine and verifiable

Compliance

  • You comply with applicable laws, including privacy and medical disclosure requirements
  • You will not distribute malware, phishing attempts, or harmful code
  • You will respond to moderation inquiries within 48 hours

Limited License Grant

By submitting user content, you grant YegnaFund a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable license to:

  • Host, store, and display content on the platform
  • Transmit content to third-party moderation services for review
  • Create thumbnails, compressed versions, or placeholder images
  • Use anonymized content for AI moderation training
  • Share content with law enforcement when legally required

This license terminates when you delete content, except for cached copies retained for 90 days, content shared by other users, and anonymized data used in aggregate analytics.

No Ownership Claim

YegnaFund does not claim ownership of your user content. You retain all intellectual property rights.

Right to Refuse or Remove Content

  • Refuse publication with or without reason
  • Remove content at any time, including after initial approval
  • Modify moderation policies with notice for material changes

Reporting Mechanism

  • Use the Report Content button on the image
  • Email [email protected] with the campaign URL
  • Submit a detailed report through the Help Center

Reports are reviewed within 24 hours. Frivolous or malicious reports may result in reporting privileges being revoked.

Reporter Protection

  • All reports are confidential
  • The reported user will not see who filed the report
  • Retaliation against reporters violates our Terms of Service

Submission Requirements

  • Email [email protected] within 14 days of removal
  • Include your campaign ID and the image filename
  • Provide additional context, medical verification, or evidence of compliance
  • Explain why you believe the moderation decision was incorrect

Review Timeline

  • Reviewed by a senior moderator not involved in the original decision
  • Response within five business days
  • Decisions on appeal are final

Reinstatement

  • Content restored with a content warning if applicable
  • No penalty recorded on the account
  • Guidelines refined if the error was systemic

Mandatory Reporting

  • Child sexual abuse material reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children
  • Credible threats of violence reported to local law enforcement
  • Financial fraud exceeding $10,000 reported to regulatory agencies
  • Content depicting ongoing crimes reported to relevant authorities

Data Preservation

Upon valid legal request, associated data is preserved for 180 days pending investigation.

International Compliance

Users outside Ethiopia must comply with both Ethiopian law and their local jurisdiction's laws regarding content sharing and fundraising.

Subjectivity of Moderation

  • Moderation decisions are inherently subjective and based on trained human judgment
  • Recommendations may be offered for borderline content
  • No guarantee of perfect accuracy in moderation decisions

No Guarantee of Service

  • No guarantee of specific turnaround times
  • No guarantee of complete detection of prohibited content
  • No guarantee of uninterrupted access to the platform

Limitation of Liability

  • Total liability is limited to the lesser of campaign funds raised in the prior six months or ETB 50,000
  • No liability for consequential, indirect, or punitive damages
  • No liability for content posted by users before moderation
  • You agree to indemnify YegnaFund against claims arising from your user content

Metadata Collection

When you upload content, we collect:

  • Technical data such as file size, resolution, EXIF data, and upload timestamps
  • User data including IP address, device type, and browser information
  • Content data such as hash signatures and AI confidence scores

This data is used for security and fraud prevention, moderation quality assurance, and platform improvement.

Third-Party Moderators

  • Moderators receive only the image and anonymized campaign context
  • Moderators do not receive personal or financial information
  • All moderators are bound by confidentiality agreements

Data Retention

  • Active campaigns: images stored while the campaign is live
  • Completed campaigns: images retained for two years, then archived
  • Removed content: encrypted storage for 90 days, then deleted
  • Audit logs: moderation decisions logged for seven years

If any provision of this policy is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full effect. This policy is governed by the laws of Ethiopia, and disputes shall be resolved in courts located in Addis Ababa.
